Tsān Tiōng Khiah

Kitt Johnson

Tsān Tiōng Khiah originated from the site-specific concept MELLEMRUM encounter arranged and curated by Kitt Johnson between 2008 and 2014 for Copenhagen city. And continuing happened around the world. In 2008, the project was praised as “Best Theatrical Experience of the Year” by AOK guides and loved by the critics and the audiences alike. MELLEMRUM encounter was subsequently carried out in other countries such as Greece, Sri Lanka and Macau. For every edition, the project incorporated elements of local history and environment, inviting the audience to explore the gaps between time and space.

Tainan plays an important role in the history of Taiwan. Traces that remain of the past interweave with new cultural developments to create the city’s sense of seasoned depth. Walking through alleyways and encountering places in the city that are now hidden or neglected,, we sense layered dimensions, sceneries. changes over time, the flow of human migration, the rise and fall of economy and the run of local news. Through engagement with the arts, ,traces of the past surface again, allowing the audience to

place their own imagination and memories in the gaps between time and space.
